Abortion Safety Checklist
Abortion is a medical procedure that terminates pregnancy. If you are considering abortion for your unexpected pregnancy, take a look at our abortion safety checklist below to make sure you’re taking every precaution to protect your body and your health.
1. Confirm Your Pregnancy
The first step to considering your options is to confirm your pregnancy with no-cost pregnancy tests at Ray of Hope and a free-of-charge referral ultrasound appointment. The ultrasound appointment will provide important information on how far along you are, which you’ll need to know to understand which of the abortion procedures is available to you.
2. Learn the Risks that are Involved
Like with any medical procedure, there are a number of risks involved with having an abortion. There are both potential short-term and long-term risks, as well as physical and psychological risks to be aware of. A trained member of our staff will be able to sit down and discuss these with you during your appointment so that you are fully informed by someone who truly cares for your overall wellbeing.
3. Check Your Potential Abortion Provider’s Credentials
Look up the name of your potential abortion provider to ensure he or she is a licensed physician, as well as a board-certified obstetric gynecologist. Call his or her office to make sure the doctor has the necessary privileges to admit you to a hospital in the case of an emergency. Make sure you’re placing your body and your health into the right hands.
4. Know Your Options
Some women feel pressured or trapped by their outside circumstances. It’s important to know that – no matter your circumstances – each of the options is possible for you. If you aren’t sure how, we can sit down with you and come up with solutions to your concerns.
5. It’s Okay to Change Your Mind
At every point along the way, it is okay to change your mind. It is never too late to stand up and walk out of the waiting room or the operating room. This is a big and serious decision to make, and we want to make sure you know that it is legally your choice, and you can change your mind at any point.
At Ray of Hope, we want to ensure every woman is fully informed about each of her options so that she can make the best decision for her. Make an appointment with us today to discuss abortion and your other options.
