Support for Men
When it comes to an unexpected pregnancy, men are often left out of the larger conversation; and when it comes to first-time parenting, they can often feel out of place or unprepared. At Ray of Hope, we support both women and men who are facing these circumstances. You’ll find support, encouragement, and staff who can help you better understand your role at our center.
If you’re new to parenting and are feeling unprepared, it’s not uncommon. Many men upon discovering they’re about to have a baby don’t know what their next step is. Ray of Hope offers parenting classes to men so that they can be confident in the role of fatherhood. If you’re interested in learning more about parenting classes and the other resources our center can offer you, contact us today.
My partner is pregnant – what do I do now?
If pregnancy wasn’t part of the plan, the first thing you probably felt was fear. It’s likely the first thing she felt, too. Your first step after learning she’s pregnant is to be there as a source of support. Come with her to her pregnancy test and ultrasound appointments, which we can offer at no charge at our center or as a referral. This will not be an easy road, but it will be a lot better if you walk it together.
How do we make the right decision?
Making the right decision for the two of you begins with open and honest communication. Take the time to have a real and respectful conversation about your thoughts and feelings. It’s important to also take time to listen to hers. No matter what decision you come to in the end, beginning with open and honest discussion will ensure both of you have made your thoughts and feelings known.
Are there resources to help me through this?
Ray of Hope offers a one-on-one and/or group class mentorship program for men, as well as parenting classes to help prepare you for the next season of life if that is the decision you choose. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources so that you have the confidence and support you need to help your partner through the decision-making process.
Ray of Hope offers programs to help men understand their role in an unexpected pregnancy. If you recently found out that your partner is pregnant or might be, contact us today for no-cost services and guidance.
